Fuel combustion in your Renault Clio engine creates water vapour. As it passes along your Renault Clio's cold exhaust pipes it condenses back into liquid water.
Sulphur and Nitrogen Oxide gases passing through you Renault Clio's catalytic converter are absorbed by the water creating Acidic moisture that can attack the steel of your Renault Clio exhaust.
Your Renault Clio Silencer is the last part of the exhaust system to be heated and on short journeys may not heat up enough to eliminate the acidic condensation.
